At about seven to eight months old, babies usually produce their first consonant sounds. These first consonant sounds are usually combined with vowels to form syllables (goo-goo, baa-baa). The sound substitution songs and activities provided in Animated-Literacy™ revisit and reinforce this process to develop phonological awareness.
After a few months of sound play, babies start to produce their first words. Labels usually form many of the first words a baby produces. The drawing and labeling component of Animated-Literacy™ reinforces this stage of development to promote early word recognition and phonics skills.
