Many studies have found that both adults and older students with reading disabilities frequently display the same deficits in phonological awareness that have been identified in children.  With only minor adaptations, the phonological awareness and word recognition skills and strategies presented in Animated-Literacy™ have been found to be effective with older students.

One component that has been especially fun and effective with older learners is the use of “Pig Latin” to develop sound recognition, segmentation, manipulation, and blending skills.  Students both young and old enjoy using the lessons from Animated-Literacy™ to draw and label objects with words that they have learned to translate into Pig Latin.
